The clinic:
The CEFER Institute in Barcelona can already look back on a history of more than 40 years. Founded in 1977, initially as Spain's first sperm bank and expanded to an IVF clinic in 1982, the CEFER Institute is one of the pioneers of reproductive medicine in Spain. The first egg donation was performed here in 1993 and in 2001 the CEFER Institute founded the first egg bank in Spain. In addition, the CEFER Institute is the first clinic in Spain to offer IVF in the natural cycle. As a family business, the CEFER Institute has always consciously avoided growing too much in order not to lose personal contact with patients. We attach great importance to individual care. All patients have their own personal fertility doctor who provides them with seamless care from the initial consultation to the pregnancy test.

Dr. med. Markus Nitzschke is one of the few German specialists in gynecology and obstetrics with the additional title of gynecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine in Spain.
During his training period at the Inselspital in Bern in 2009 and 2010, he played a decisive role in the development of IVF-Naturelle in the team of Prof. Dr. Michael von Wolff. After several stays abroad, including with Dr. Osamu Kato in Tokyo and Dr. John Zhang in New York, he was primarily concerned with the question of how to use the techniques of IVF-Naturelle in patients with low egg reserve when classical IVF stimulations no longer promise success.

With its more than 30 IVF clinics, Barcelona is undisputedly the fertility capital of Europe. More than half of all egg donations in Europe are performed here. This is mainly due to the favorable legal situation in Spain, but also to the extraordinarily high medical and scientific level of the fertility doctors and biologists.
